The
Solution
I.D.milano designers arranged their
holidays around the work for Telsey. Working closely with Telsey
engineers, the decision was taken to orient the PCB vertically to
create a much more striking look. Since the housing has openings
at top and bottom this created a chimney effect which proved very
effective for cooling purposes. The large side surfaces are finished
with an automotive type basecoat/clearcoat.
Nearly all set top boxes have an
array of buttons cluttering up the front fascia. Since all of these
functions are available through the remote I.D.milano chose to remove
everything except the infra red window to create the cleanest, most
iconic look possible.
Once the database was finished,
the file was sent to LCO for prototyping. They managed the model
building throught their offices in France and Milan and a model
shop in China. LCO were able to deliver to schedule. The parts were
machined, bonded, finished and painted. The final model was hand-delivered
to the show in Amsterdam.
